Our client, a rapidly growing legal services buisness based in Blackburn have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Financial Controller to join their growing finance team. You will be providing leadership for the finance team and working closely with the chief financial officer to manage all financial aspects of all companies within the group.

Applicants for the position must have strong financial and accounting experience as well as being able to demonstrate good managerial and communication skills.

This is an exciting time to join this business as they have a number of funders in place to assist with their expansion.

This is a highly technical financial role that would lend itself well to a qualified candidate that has proven experience on the statutory side of accounts, along with processes and controls experience. If you are just after a commercial finance role, then this won't be the opportunity for you. 


The main responsibilities for this position are:-

• Production of financial statements for each company within the group

• Oversee transactional accounting processes

• Supervision and management of all finance and accounting staff

• Implement and oversee internal audit process

• Production of year end accounts

• VAT returns and other HMRC communications

• Liaise with external auditors

• Assist when required with treasury, risk, financial planning, analysis and other areas of the finance function

• Produce a cashflow forecast

• Ensuring that an organisation meets the necessary tax, permit and licencing requirements

• Collaborating with an executive team in establishing more effective processes and controls to ensure the integrity of a company’s ledger

• Overseeing all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and disclosures

• Providing executive management with accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide effective policy making and financial strategising

• Summarising budget trends, analysing deficiencies and reporting variances to executives

• Taking care of tax preparation duties or liaising with external tax accountants for tax preparation



The successful candidate will have the following experience:-

• Ability to work to urgent deadlines

• Abides by company confidentiality

• Utilises other employees to improve efficiency

• Qualifications; ACA/ACCA/CIMA

• Minimum 3 years post qualification experience

• Accounts production under IFRS102


There is a competitive salary between £60,000 to £80,000 (DOE) and benefits package available for this position and we offer flexibility as an employer.
